Danny + Mary Engagement: The Pike, Long Beach

It couldn’t have been a more sunny, perfect day for a walk down the Pike in Long Beach, CA, for an engagement photo shoot with Danny and Mary.

Thanks to a quick drive near the Aquarium of the Pacific a week before, I knew that the area in front of V2O would make for some nice photos. I arrived at this location an hour before our shoot and saw this photo in my head. I went down stairs, set up one light and hoped that the sliver of shadow where they were to stand would still be there when the shoot actually started. Luckily, everything came together just right for this neat and visually striking image.

Danny and Mary were first timers in front of the camera, but once we got started, they were naturals. I was able to make them feel comfortable and relaxed, and that made our shoot very smooth. Up next… wedding ceremony at the Reef!
