Michael + Marisol Engagement: Malaga Cove, Palos Verdes Estates

Michael and Marisol pose for a photo on the Palos Verdes Peninsula overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., on Friday, July 23, 2010.

I had the pleasure to photograph Michael and Marisol for their engagement shoot at the stunning Palos Verdes Peninsula. Strangely enough, I’ve never actually visited the west side of the peninsula next to Redondo Beach, even though I grew up and lived in the Los Angeles area all of my life. So, it was a first for the three of us… their first time in front of a camera and my first time at this beautiful nook of classic So Cal cliff and ocean.

As I explained to Michael and Marisol, the engagement shoot is a perfect way for a couple, who has never been in front of a camera, to loosen up and have a better idea of what to expect for the actual wedding day. They quickly realized how fun and easy it is to work with me and to get great results in the process.

Shoots like this on a perfect, sunny day remind me of how much I love living and working where I do. I closed my eyes, let the salty air hit my nostrils, and heard nothing but the waves crashing on the rocks. I almost didn’t need a camera.
