Sam & Tanya Wedding

It was a very, very hot day in Riverside for Sam and Tanya’s wedding at the Mission Inn in Riverside. Although it was a furnace outside, the beauty of the location made it all worth while for the couple and their guests, not to mention it made my job a lot easier!

Having extensive experience as a photojournalist really helps when I shoot weddings. As a newspaper photographer, one of the things I have to know how to do is make beautiful photos in the darkest of caves. Although it is beautifully decorated from floor to ceiling with gold, the chapel at the Mission Inn is a brutal environment for photography. Yet, with a little help from some strategically placed strobes, nicely lit photos can happen in any church regardless of how little available light there is.

A very funny thing happened during the reception. Well, it may not have been so funny for Tanya. The cake is cut. Sam puts a little frosting on Tanya’s nose. Tanya smears a handful of frosting on his face in retaliation. It could have ended right there, but Sam gets a heaping handful of cake and smash!! All caught on my camera for them to remember forever. Priceless.
