Marc + Christine Engagement: UC Irvine pool

It was the coolest engagement photo shoot I’ve ever been a part of. Marc and Christine’s underwater photo shoot was tons of fun, but also pretty challenging and physically demanding.

I teamed up with fellow photographer Jeff Lewis to shoot a couple who share a passion for water polo and wanted some unique engagement photos. It was a good thing that we worked together as we quickly found out that taking nice pictures underwater is harder than it seems.

Unlike a conventional photo shoot on dry land, you can’t give directions to your subject and everyone’s limited to how long they can hold their breath. Each dive was about 30 seconds of trial and error, but the end results were pretty awesome!

We both came away with some nice images and sore bodies. Marc and Christine were troopers, putting up with burning, chlorinated eyes and the constant “Ok, that was great. Let’s do it one more time!”
